KINGS OF THRACE. Lysimachos, 305-281 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.56 g, 11 h), Kalchedon, circa 215-210. Diademed head of Alexander the Great to right with horn of Ammon over his ear. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ΛΥΣΙΜΑΧΟΥ Athena seated left, holding Nike, crowning the king's name, in her right hand and leaning with her left arm on shield decorated with lion's head; behind, transverse spear; in inner left field, Φ; in exergue, bull butting left. Müller 358. Seyrig, Byzance et de Calcédoine, p. 196 and pl. 25, 25. A lustrous and exceptional piece struck in high relief. Minor scrape on Alexander's horn, otherwise, virtually as struck.
